preparations for the treatment of nail fungus. Price, reviews, analogues

Amorolfin is a modern antifungal agent intended for external use. It is the basis of several types of medicinal varnishes, which differ from each other in auxiliary substances and in the concentration of the active component. Before using drugs containing amorolfine, you need to find out their contraindications, side effects and how to use them.

Description of active ingredient

All synthetic antifungal agents are divided into three groups (by chemical structure):Amorolfin

  • azoles;
  • allylamines;
  • polyene antibiotics.

However, there are substances that do not belong to any of the listed categories. The most famous of them is amorolfine hydrochloride – a derivative of morpholine.

This component has a wide spectrum of action. It is active against such fungi as:

  • dermatophytes;
  • yeast
  • moldy;
  • dimorphic;
  • actinomycetes.

Almost all pathogens of onychomycosis, the nail fungus, are included in the list of these microorganisms (the first three items).

Amorolfin acts like other antimycotics. It inhibits the work of enzymes necessary for the synthesis of ergosterol – a structural component of the cell wall of the fungus. As a result, its structure and functions are violated, which leads to rapid cell death.

The component is mainly added to varnishes, since it is this form of medicine that best allows amorolfine to penetrate into the hard tissue of the nail plate, accumulate in it and destroy the fungus. The therapeutic concentration of the substance in keratin is reached after the first use and lasts for 7-10 days.

The drug in the form of varnish is much more effective in the treatment of onychomycosis than any other form intended for external use (cream, ointment, spray). In addition, it can be used to prevent fungus. Since the systemic effect of amorolfin when applied to the nails is not observed, the drug is completely safe for health.

Indications for use

Doctors warn that amorolfine is effective for the treatment of nail fungus only in the early stages – less than 2/3 of the area and thickness of the plate are affected. With an advanced disease, when the nail is completely destroyed, you can not do without taking pills.Amorolfin from fungus on nails

Varnish should be started to be used as soon as the disease is confirmed. The first symptoms of onychomycosis, with which you should immediately consult a dermatologist:

  • a change in the normal pinkish tint to yellow, white, greenish, bluish, black;
  • loss of transparency of the nail;
  • peeling, inflammation, thickening of the skin around the plate;
  • easy breaking off of the free edge, cracks in the nail;
  • the smell of rotten cheese.

A simple study, in which a piece of nail is examined under a microscope, will determine if the fungus actually settled in the tissues. After the doctor, during an external examination, he will determine the degree of damage and decide whether it will be possible to cope with the disease by applying varnish.

If possible, you should tune in to long-term treatment. The fact is that you need to apply the varnish until the nail has grown completely. The growth rate depends on individual characteristics:

  • health conditions;
  • heredity;
  • nutrition;
  • age.

On average, this process takes 5-6 months. The toes are larger than the rest, so they can grow up to a year.

Additionally, to protect the skin from infection with the fungus, it is recommended to use a solution or cream from the foot fungus Candide, Terbix, Miko-Stop.

Contraindications and warnings

Amorolfin acts only in the nail and is not absorbed into the blood. Therefore, it is allowed to use for people with chronic diseases, functional insufficiency of the kidneys and liver.

The only strict contraindication is hypersensitivity to amorolfine or auxiliary components of varnish.Burning on the toe

If there is a burning sensation, redness, itching, severe swelling at the site of application of the drug, you should stop using it and seek medical help.

For pregnant and lactating women, children under 18 years of age, the question of the possibility of treating varnishes with amorolfine is decided individually by the doctor.

If varnish is used to treat fungus on fingernails, you need to protect them with gloves when working with organic solvents. Such substances may contain finishing paints, varnishes, drying oils and other materials. These include acetone, white spirit, turpentine, xylene, gasoline.

Protective gloves are recommended during prolonged use with water, detergents and cleaning products. From dampness, the nails swell, and after drying, they again decrease in volume. Because of this, the varnish peels off faster. An ordinary shower, washing with soap does not damage the healing layer.

During the course of therapy with amorolfine, it is undesirable to use a decorative varnish so that the organic solvents in its composition do not violate the drug layer. It is forbidden to build up or glue artificial nails – this will interfere with the regular application of the medicinal product.

How to use amorolfine varnish

The varnish is applied to the nails affected by the fungus twice a week for a month. In the future, the layer is updated once a week until the end of the course of treatment. If for any reason the treatment day is missed, the nails should be lubricated as soon as possible.

For the purpose of prevention, varnish can be used immediately before visiting public places with high humidity (saunas, pools, gyms) or applied once a month.

Approximate procedure for processing the plate:Nail polish with applicator

  1. Steam the legs in warm water for 15-20 minutes, dry with a towel;
  2. Treat the affected nail plate. Cut the edge and file, peel off the surface, scrape off the peeling areas. Make the entire surface slightly rough with a nail file;
  3. Put the varnish on the applicator, apply it evenly on the entire plate, including its edge. After use, thoroughly wipe the brush with alcohol;
  4. Let the layer dry for 3-4 minutes. After 10 minutes, you can soak your feet or hands with water, if necessary, apply decorative varnish (but it is better to do without it);
  5. Close the bottle tightly to prevent the product from drying out.

The next time you apply the medicine, you must first remove the old layer with alcohol or nail polish remover, then treat the nails, as described above.

General recommendations

To prevent the fungus from switching to healthy nail plates, it is also worth protecting them with the help of the drug (once a month). However, for their processing it is necessary to use a separate applicator, nail file, scissors.

All instruments must be disinfected daily with alcohol, and hands should be thoroughly washed with soap after the procedure.

Before starting the course of treatment, it is required to treat shoes, home mats with antiseptics. For toenails, it is recommended that you sleep in clean cotton socks (changed daily).Shoe disinfection

Socks and bedding should be washed at a temperature of 60-90 °. It is better to throw away slippers and use washable slippers (plastic, rubber) for the duration of the course of treatment.

Healing varnishes are sold in the form of sets with disposable tools (nail files, applicators, disinfectant wipes), but they are not enough for the full course. You can purchase disposable files separately or use a regular metal one, washing it every day with soap and water and rubbing it with alcohol (vodka, cologne).

Personal reviews of people who used amorolfin for fungus

Alice, 20 years old.

I used Oflomil varnish, it was recommended to me in a pharmacy. The fungus was on the nails of the big toes (on the left foot more than on the right), but I smeared everything. First sawed off the top layer on healthy nails, then on the sick. I wiped the plates with an alcohol napkin, again, first healthy, then sick. It is not easy to apply varnish – it is thick, the shoulder blade is uncomfortable.

The effect became noticeable on the right foot after two weeks, which made me very happy, and on the left – after a month. The bottle was calmly enough for all this time. Now I bought a second one and use it once a month, my nails are still growing, but they look almost like healthy.

Christina is 27 years old.

At first I bought Loceryl, and only then I found out that there is cheaper varnish. The next time I took Oflomil. If you compare both means, then Loceril’s cork is easier to open and not so tight. Oflomil in the end began to dry up, because the bubble did not close well.

Everything else in the set is about the same in quality, so I don’t see the point of overpaying for a cork. Luck, by the way, helped perfectly. I doubted to the last, I read on the Internet that there was nothing to get rid of the fungus on the nails.
