To treat mycosis of nails and skin in pharmacies, many drugs are sold. They are divided into local and oral. The last group includes Irunin. He effectively copes with various representatives of pathogenic microflora, conducts prophylaxis of fungal infections and has practically no contraindications. However, in order to achieve good results with its help, it is worth carefully reading the instructions.
Irunin is made in the form of capsules and vaginal tablets. In both cases, the active substance is itraconazole. Capsules contain 100 mg of the active ingredient. Together with it, titanium dioxide, gelatin, sucrose and hypromellose are used in the manufacture of the medicine. A quinoline dye is added to the shell to obtain a yellowish color.
Intravaginal tablets from the fungus Irunin contain 200 mg of the active component of itraconazole. Excipients of this form are:
- sodium lauryl sulfate;
- magnesium stearate;
Irunin for internal use is painted yellow. It is placed in white spherical pellets. It is delivered to pharmacies in cardboard boxes, inside of which are from one to three pellets containing from five to fifteen tablets. Also, the medicine is sold in glass jars, which also contain 5, 6, 7, 10, 14 or 15 capsules.
Vaginal tablets are white and have an annular shape. The tool is sold in cardboard boxes of ten pieces.
Effects on the body
The active component of Irunin is a derivative of triazole, a substance with pronounced antifungal properties. When ingested, tablets block a number of cellular enzymes, as a result of which the pathogen of mycosis loses its ability to synthesize ergosterol. This mechanism of action works against numerous species of fungi, including blastomycetes, Candida, trichophyton and microsporia.
Substances from the composition of the drug are stored inside the soft tissues for a month from the termination of the course. In the nail plates Irunin stays longer. Peak concentration of itraconazole in keratin can be detected in a week after taking the first tablet. The component will remain in the nails for another six months if the person has undergone a full three-month therapy.
Irunin is prescribed against fungal infections that are caused by dermatophytes, mold, and yeast-type fungi. The largest amount of the active component in the plasma is detected several hours after the patient drinks the pill. The period of drug withdrawal takes from one to two days. Itraconazole does not bind to blood proteins, does not remain inside biological fluids, for example, breast milk, and does not affect the hormonal background.
Indications and contraindications
The instruction for use states that tablets for oral administration are intended for the treatment of skin integuments, mucous membranes and nails affected by the fungus. With the help of the drug, mycoses of the oral cavity and eyes are eliminated. Irunin helps to remove onychomycosis if the disease appears due to yeast or dermatophyte fungi. The doctor may prescribe a course of taking pills to get rid of vulvovaginal candidiasis.
Irunin is also used to eliminate systemic mycoses. Since the drug belongs to medicines of wide exposure, it is prescribed for simultaneous damage to several strains of the fungus. Tablets are prescribed against chronic candidiasis, aspergillosis, sporotrichosis and blastomycosis. Doctors recommend Irunin to combat histoplasmosis, paracoccidioidosis and cryptococcosis. Women and men can be advised a remedy for the treatment of thrush.
Irunin has standard contraindications. It is forbidden to drink the medication with individual intolerance to the contents of the drug. Both forms of release are contraindicated in women bearing a child. It is proved that the drug adversely affects the fetus and leads to the development of anomalies that are incompatible with the life of the baby.
If the patient suffers from severe diseases of the liver, heart and blood vessels, he needs additional medical advice.
Tablets for oral administration cannot be used simultaneously with the following drugs:
Irunin is acceptable for children over three years of age. In such a situation, therapy is monitored by a physician and is immediately discontinued if side effects occur.
It is forbidden to drink alcohol during the treatment period, since ethanol enhances the hepatotoxic effect of the drug. This provokes a deterioration in the general condition of a person and significantly reduces the effectiveness of taking antimycotics.
Negative reactions and overdose
The medication, when administered orally, affects the cardiovascular system; the medicine can provoke peripheral edema, congestive heart failure and dropsy of the lungs. Irunin affects nervous activity, leading to dizziness, headache and peripheral neuropathy.
In medical practice, cases of cholestatic jaundice, hepatitis, vomiting, nausea and constipation associated with the use of this tool are known. In some patients, the concentration of liver enzymes increased, as well as abdominal pain. Occasionally, hair loss, hypokalemia, dysmenoria, and various allergic reactions have been reported in humans.
Since vaginal tablets act locally, they only lead to local negative reactions, such as burning in the vagina, rash, and itching. With the development of such symptoms, discontinuation of therapy is not necessary.
A specific antidote against an overdose of Irunin has not been invented. With the development of signs of poisoning by its composition, it is necessary to wash the stomach with soda solution for an hour. Then the patient should drink enterosorbents.
How to take the drug
The dosage of Irunin capsules is the same for all forms of the disease, including mycoses of the feet, nails and skin. Only the duration of therapy differs. It is established by the doctor after determining the type of pathogen.
Capsules are drunk once or twice a day at 100 or 200 mg. The optimal time for using the drug is after a meal. The standard period of use of Irunin:
- onychomycosis in the legs is treated for three months;
- with keratitis, take two tablets per day for fourteen days;
- against depriving and fungus of the skin, one week of treatment is enough;
- oral candidiasis is eliminated with one tablet per day for two weeks.
Some take the drug in a regimen called "pulse therapy." In the specific case, only the doctor will tell about the effectiveness of this method. The essence of the method is to take 200 mg tablets daily for a week. After this period, a break of three weeks is made, and then the treatment is repeated. The number of courses depends on the type of disease. For example, for the treatment of onychomycosis in the legs, pulse therapy is repeated up to 4 times, and with fungal damage to the plates on the fingers, two are enough.
The use of vaginal suppositories
Vaginal tablets are injected into the vagina before bedtime and left overnight. The body should be in a horizontal position. Legs need to bend at the knees.
The average course duration is two weeks. You can repeat the treatment only after consulting a doctor. With vulvovaginal candidiasis, it is permissible to use capsules together with vaginal tablets. In this case, the dosage of Irunin is 200 mg, which they drink twice a day.
Cost and analogues
Irunin capsules cost an average of 600-800 rubles. You can buy vaginal tablets for 250-350 rubles.
As a cheap analogue of Irunin in the form of capsules, Orungamine is prescribed. These are fungal tablets made from itraconazole. The drug is indicated for skin mycoses, keratitis and systemic lesions of the body by pathogenic microflora. The medication is used to treat nail fungus on the legs and arms, therapy for pityriasis versicolor and deep candidiasis of visceral organs. Even with its help, candidomycoses on the skin and mucous membranes are successfully eliminated.
Orungamine has the same contraindications as Irunin. Medicines have similar side effects. Taking pills can lead to dark urine, hypercreatinemia, and changes in the menstrual cycle. Over the life of the drug, no cases of overdose have been reported. The medication is incompatible with strong activators of microsomal and liver enzymes.
Orunganmin is prescribed to pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children only if there are strict indications when the potential benefits outweigh the risks. The price of packing tablets in pharmacies is 400-450 rubles.
Maria, 25 years old.
I read the reviews of doctors and realized that Irunin had many contraindications and side effects, although I personally did not notice them. My doctor prescribed these pills for suspected nail fungus. It took me about 1.5 months to complete the course of treatment, everything went well. Now I drink medicine for prevention.
Valeria, 33 years old.
In the case of prolonged use with a fungus, the drug negatively affects the body, so use it carefully. My doctor prescribed a pulse therapy, and in the second week of the course I felt nausea, constant pain in my right side and weakness. Dizziness began, appetite disappeared. Symptoms disappeared only at the end of the course. However, the pills helped with depriving and nail fungus.
